We're on lockdown and people are scared. We are as afraid of what's going on today as we are of how today will change our tomorrows. That makes sense.
Almost overnight we went from living our regular daily lives, on our grinds, work, school, home repeat. To our new routine which for many of us means no grind, no work, no school just home. Walking around in masks and gloves as we chase down toilet paper to avoid watching the news.
You're not alone if you are wondering when things will get back to normal, and what the new normal will look like. Can we plan for the graduations, summer vacation, back to school, Thanksgiving or Christmas? When will this crazy-town time end and when it does how will our lives be changed?
My first instinct was to wallow in the doubt and uncertainty that hangs in the air with the droplets. I caught myself tied up in negativity, thinking if this thing ends...
If is despair. If is where faith goes to die. If implies there's no hope when there is always hope. That's when I deleted "if" and replaced it with "WHEN!"
When this is over, the sun will be brighter. When this is over I'll go out and see my friends. I'll make the time for my cousins and road trips and special occasions. When this is over there will be new possibilities, new opportunities.
When this is over, I'll be ready for the clearer air, the sunlight on my skin, for gentle breezes and walks in the park, and shopping in the mall, and super large family gatherings, with loving hugs and kisses.
When this is over I pray that our collective consciousness will be lifted, that maybe we will have hit the reset button on global warming and hate -- especially hate.
Not if. When.
